CHICAGO, Ill. (May 25. 2011) --- Singer-songwriter Kelley James will perform a free concert at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 11 on the Corona Light Stage at Siesta Key Public Beach (948 Beach Road), as part of the opening stop on the nationwide Corona Light Wide Open beach volleyball and festival tour.
James has one of the most popular live shows in the music business today and he consistently packs California’s most legendary music clubs, including El Rey, Roxy, Key Club and Avalon. Most recently James has been on the road with Mike Posner on his “Back To School College Tour” and will be joining O.A.R. on their extensive summer tour. He also has toured with Sara Bareilles, Schwayze, Kate Voegele, T-Pain, Slightly Stoopid and Tyrone Wells.
“Break Free”, James’ latest full-length release infuses the energy and range of his live act into a studio recording. He released his first record, “In a City That Has No Name”, in 2007. His quick-witted clever lyrics tie together a collection of music that range from light-hearted to heavily jazz-influenced tracks.
The Kelley James concert is part of a weekend festival of beach volleyball, music and fun that is all part of the Corona Light Wide Open stop in Siesta Key. Created, in part, by volleyball legend Karch Kiraly and featuring an appearance by Brian Lewis, a former No. 1 player in the world, the event includes $50,000 in prize money for the men’s and women’s Open divisions.
Several top professional players have already committed to the 2011 Corona Light Wide Open, including 2010 US Open of Beach Volleyball champion Aaron Wachtfogel, who will partner with former AVP Rookie of the Year, Bill Strickland, and Ty Loomis, a four-time winner on the 2010 Corona Light Wide Open and his partner, 2004 Australian Olympian Mark Williams.
Christal Morrison Engle, who captured the Wide Open title at Santa Cruz in 2010, and former USC stand-out Jess Gysin, also have announced their intention to compete in the Corona Light events. Morrison Engle and Gysin recently picked up the title at the Great American Volleyball event in Manhattan Beach, Calif.
“The addition of the Kelley James concert to this year’s Corona Light Wide Open event in Siesta Key rounds out a great weekend of fun on the beach,” said Daniel Kinghorn, Senior Manager of National Sponsorships for Crown Imports. “With $50,000 in prize money we hope to attract a strong field of volleyball players and the free Saturday afternoon concert will be a perfect way to watch the sun set on the beach Saturday afternoon.”
